There are no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored posts and no paid venue listings. We have not applied to any affiliate program. We are still deciding how the site will pay for itself, and we would rather say so than leave you guessing.
Where money could come in later
These are the ideas we are weighing, in the order we would likely try them:
- Clear bags and bag storage near venues, because people buy those after reading a bag policy
- Tickets, parking and hotels, in a plan your visit block at the bottom of a venue page
- Display ads on guides and hubs, once traffic is steady
The rules we hold ourselves to
If any of this goes live, these rules apply from the first day:
- Every affiliate link is labeled where you see it and tagged as sponsored in the code
- No paid element sits above the answer block on a page
- No payment changes a verdict, a rule or the order of venues
- We recommend a product only after we have handled it ourselves
- This page changes before the first link goes live
Why tell you now
A reference site is only useful if you trust the answer. Saying where money could come from before it does lets you hold us to it. If you ever see a link here that is not labeled, tell us. The way we keep verdicts clean is on the how we verify page.
