NHL Arena Bag Policies: Bag Limits, Water, Cameras and More

We have not verified one league-wide NHL bag rule, so each arena page shows only what that arena says. The arenas we have verified set very different limits, from any bag that fits under your seat to a small clutch, so read each page. We have verified 32 of the 32 NHL arenas we cover.

Every arena sets its own rules

We have not verified a league-wide NHL bag rule, so this page does not claim one. Places that host NHL games also host concerts and other events, and each publishes its own limits.

Among the 32 arenas we have verified, the limits run from a small clutch of about 4 by 6 inches to bags 14 inches or more on a side, and the table below lists each one with its source.

Bag rules at verified NHL arenas

These rows come from each venue's own policy page and update when a venue is read again.

  • The arena strongly discourages bags. Bags, clutches and crossbodies smaller than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches are permitted, and clear bags are encouraged but not required. Diaper, breast pump and medical bags are exceptions that get a visual search and x-ray.

Questions about NHL rules

  1. We have not verified one. Each arena page shows what that venue's own policy says, with the source and the date we read it.

  2. We read each venue's own policy before showing a rule. The ones still marked have not been read yet, and we do not guess while they wait.

  3. Not always. The venues we have verified say their rules can change by event, so check the event page for your date.
