Short answer

Capital One Arena has a strict no bag policy: only wallet-size clutches up to 4 by 6 inches are allowed, plus medical and parenting bags up to 14 by 14 by 6 inches through the 6th and F entrance. Outside food and drink are banned, but one empty plastic water bottle per person is allowed.

Bag policy in detail

The arena has a strict no bag policy. Bags, backpacks and purses are not permitted, while wallet-size clutches up to 4 x 6 inches and medical or parenting bags up to 14 x 14 x 6 inches are, after security screening. Bags, backpacks and purses are not permitted inside the arena. Purses are not permitted. A wallet-size clutch no larger than 4 x 6 inches is allowed.

Food and drink

Each guest may bring in one empty plastic water bottle for personal use. Cans and bottles are on the prohibited list. Outside food and beverages, alcohol included, are not allowed for any game, concert or event. Coolers are prohibited.

Cameras and electronics

For Capitals, Wizards and Georgetown games, point-and-shoot and SLR type cameras are allowed. For concerts, SLR cameras, detachable lenses, professional-style cameras and video cameras are not. Video recording is strictly prohibited. Monopods, tripods, poles and selfie sticks are prohibited. The pages do not mention camera lenses, drones, laptops, tablets and power banks.

Strollers and family items

Medical bags and parenting bags up to 14 x 14 x 6 inches are permitted and screened. Bring them through the entrance at the corner of 6th and F Street. The pages do not mention strollers.

Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items

Non-collapsible umbrellas are prohibited, so collapsible ones are allowed. The pages do not mention blankets and seat cushions.

Signs, flags and fan items

Small signs, posters and flags are welcome unless the teams or event management say otherwise. Banners are not allowed, and signs must be paper, fabric or poster board and must not block sponsor or building signage. Small flags are welcome unless the teams or event say otherwise. Medical needs and accessibility

Medical bags and parenting bags up to 14 x 14 x 6 inches are permitted and subject to security screening. Use the entrance on the corner of 6th and F Street. The arena says ski masks and non-medical face coverings are not allowed.

Security screening and arrival

Staff inspect bags and use metal detection. Guests remove metal objects, keys, phones, wallets and cameras from their pockets and place them in a basket. Anyone who declines a search, or has prohibited items, may be denied entry. The arena is non-smoking, and smoking outdoors has to be at least 25 feet from the building.

Bag storage and lockers

The arena will not check or store any of the listed prohibited items, and the page describes no bag storage.
