Can I bring a blanket to a concert?

It depends on the venue. Outdoor venues often have blanket rules for lawn seating, while stadiums and arenas may say nothing. The venue page shows what is stated.

Are blankets searched?

Where a stadium allows them, yes. One stadium we checked pats down or searches hand-carried blankets.

Why does a policy not mention blankets?

Policies focus on bags, bottles and weapons. When a rule is not stated, the page says so.

Can You Bring a Blanket to a Game or Concert? Check Rules

Short answer

Blanket rules are rarely spelled out. Where a venue is silent, a blanket carried in your hands is searched like any other item, and in some places it is allowed outright. Of the 302 venues we have checked, 52 allow it, 12 allow it with conditions and 238 do not mention it. Open a venue for its source.

What blankets rules look like

Some NFL stadiums allow blankets carried in your hand or in a clear bag, and search them at the gate. Lumen Field, Levi's Stadium, Nissan Stadium and Acrisure Stadium list blankets as permitted, and Bank of America Stadium allows them in the winter months only. Arrowhead Stadium, Lambeau Field and Gillette Stadium allow them too, as long as they are carried over the shoulder or loosely rather than in a bag, and Highmark Stadium, Empower Field, Allegiant Stadium, M&T Bank Stadium and Raymond James Stadium allow them too, the last only if unfolded. Huntington Bank Field asks you to shake one out, U.S. Bank Stadium and Little Caesars Arena allow them, and State Farm Stadium wants them carried loosely. Chase Field allows them carried over the shoulder or in a clear bag, and Kauffman Stadium allows them.
Several venues we checked do not mention blankets at all.
Amphitheaters with lawn seating are where blanket rules matter most. Shoreline Amphitheatre allows a small blanket or towel up to 6 x 6 feet and bans chairs, Ascend Amphitheater caps blankets at 3 x 5 feet, and Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre allows them at most shows. Coca-Cola Amphitheater does not mention blankets.

Before you go

1Carry a blanket in your hands rather than in a bag, where the venue allows it.
2Skip large blankets at indoor venues. Space under the seat is limited.
3Check lawn rules separately from reserved seating at outdoor venues.

Questions about blankets

It depends on the venue. Outdoor venues often have blanket rules for lawn seating, while stadiums and arenas may say nothing. The venue page shows what is stated.
Where a stadium allows them, yes. One stadium we checked pats down or searches hand-carried blankets.
Policies focus on bags, bottles and weapons. When a rule is not stated, the page says so.
