Bag policy in detail
At NFL games the Superdome follows the NFL clear bag policy. The only bags permitted are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, one-gallon clear plastic bags and small clutches up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches, with or without a handle or strap. Diaper bags have to be clear and within 12 by 6 by 12 inches. Each family member, children included, can carry an approved clear bag and a clutch.
Clear backpacks and clear fanny packs are named as not permitted. For non-NFL events, large or oversized bags are prohibited at the Legends Global complex, with a maximum of 12 by 12 by 6 inches and a clear bag required. That can change by event or tour, so check the event page.
- Clear bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear bag
- Small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches
- No clear backpacks or clear fanny packs
- Other events: clear bag up to 12 x 12 x 6 inches
Food and drink
Outside food and beverages of any kind may not be brought into the Superdome. Bottles, cans, glass and containers are on the prohibited list, and concessions take cards only.
Cameras and electronics
Camera and recording policies are set for each event, so the guide sends you to the event page. Video and audio recording devices, GoPros included, are on the prohibited list, and so are selfie sticks, poles and sticks. iPads and tablets are prohibited, and drones need written permission.
Single-speaker radios and hand-held televisions are permitted if they do not interfere with other guests. The pages do not mention laptops or power banks.
Strollers and family items
Strollers are allowed. You can check one at the Guest Relations Center at Gate F on the Plaza Level, or keep it with you in the seating areas as long as it does not block walkways or sightlines. Diaper bags have to be clear and within 12 by 6 by 12 inches, except that items for nursing mothers count as medical items.
Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items
The pages do not mention umbrellas, blankets or seat cushions.
Signs, flags and fan items
Banners, signs and flags are generally allowed if they are in good taste, not offensive, free of profanity, and do not obstruct anyone's view or existing Superdome signage. Commercial ones need written permission. Poles, sticks, noisemakers, whistles, beach balls, projectiles, glitter, helium balloons and mascot headwear of any kind are on the prohibited list.
Medical needs and accessibility
An exception is made for medically necessary items after proper inspection and tagging. Medical bags do not need to be clear but are checked and screened. Accessibility requests should be made at least 30 business days before the event.
Security screening and arrival
Walk-through metal detectors are used at all entry gates, and you should have your approved bags open and ready. Express lanes are available for guests without bags. The Superdome has a no re-entry policy, with exceptions approved at the gate for situations such as a medical emergency. Smoking and vaping are not allowed inside or within the security perimeter.
Bag storage and lockers
The pages do not describe bag storage or lockers, other than checking a stroller at the Guest Relations Center at Gate F.
Saints games and other events
The NFL bag rule applies to Saints games. Non-NFL events use a clear bag up to 12 by 12 by 6 inches unless the event page says otherwise, and the prohibited items list is also subject to change by tour or show management. The guide says to check the event page, and a Saints game listing has its own prohibited items.
