Can I bring an umbrella to a stadium?

It depends on the stadium. Some allow small umbrellas and some ban them. The venue page shows what the official source says.

Are golf umbrellas allowed?

Not at the venues we checked that address them. Large and golf umbrellas are not permitted.

Is a rain poncho allowed instead?

Policies rarely mention ponchos. A poncho you wear is not usually the target of a ban, but check the event page.

What umbrellas rules look like

One stadium allows small umbrellas that cover only you, and bans large and golf umbrellas.
One stadium allows only small collapsible umbrellas that fit in your clear bag.
Several venues list umbrellas of any size as prohibited, and one arena says it will not store them.
Size caps range from 10 inches at Wrigley Field and 12 inches at Rogers Centre, Scotiabank Arena and Fiserv Forum to 1 meter at Tottenham, and Crypto.com Arena bans pointed-tip ones.
Fenway Park allows umbrellas but only during official rain delays, TD Garden allows ones that collapse to 12 inches, and Dodger Stadium bans them.
Wembley bans large umbrellas without defining large, and Rogers Centre bans ones longer than 12 inches.
Levi's Stadium allows umbrellas that do not block anyone's view, Lumen Field allows only collapsible ones, and Shoreline Amphitheatre bans them, as do Nissan Stadium and Bank of America Stadium. Acrisure Stadium and Kaseya Center allow them but only closed. T-Mobile Center allows all but spiked ones, and Ascend Amphitheater never allows them. Lambeau Field, Gillette Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field and Hard Rock Stadium ban them, Mercedes-Benz Stadium allows ones under 33 inches, and Citi Field and Oracle Park allow them if they do not block views. Xfinity Mobile Arena allows only collapsible ones, and Barclays Center and Ball Arena ban large and pointed ones. Raymond James Stadium, Highmark Stadium and M&T Bank Stadium ban umbrellas, while Empower Field, Lucas Oil Stadium, NRG Stadium, Ford Field and Capital One Arena allow small or collapsible ones, and Allegiant Stadium allows ones up to 12 inches. Huntington Bank Field, Paycor Stadium, EverBank Stadium, Northwest Stadium and Delta Center ban them, Target Center bans only full-length golf ones, U.S. Bank Stadium allows small foldable ones, State Farm Stadium ones up to 12 inches, Petco Park small collapsible ones, and Little Caesars Arena allows them if closed. Chase Center contradicts itself, since its A to Z guide allows umbrellas and its prohibited list names them. Comerica Park allows them closed, Progressive Field personal-size ones only during a rain delay, Kauffman Stadium small push-button ones, American Family Field umbrellas, PNC Park ones that stay closed during play, and Coors Field small compact ones when bad weather threatens. Chase Field bans them. Angel Stadium allows personal-sized ones, Nationals Park and Rate Field small collapsible ones, Citizens Bank Park and Camden Yards allow them if they do not block views, and Tropicana Field and loanDepot park want them kept under the seat. T-Mobile Park allows them closed in the seating areas, and Sutter Health Park allows them for lawn ticket holders. Frost Bank Center, Rocket Arena (16 inches closed), American Airlines Center (12 inches), FedExForum (16 inches) and Grand Casino Arena (under 18 inches) allow small ones, Enterprise Center, Benchmark International Arena and Amerant Bank Arena allow them, Lenovo Center and Prudential Center want them closed, and Honda Center allows them only while it is raining. Moda Center, Intuit Dome and Canadian Tire Centre ban them, and Rogers Place, T-Mobile Arena and UBS Arena ban pointed-tip ones.
Several arenas and amphitheaters, AT&T Stadium, Caesars Superdome and several theme parks do not mention umbrellas at all.

Before you go

1Pack a poncho. A raincoat is rarely a problem, while umbrellas often are.
2If an umbrella is allowed, expect to close it when it blocks someone's view.
3Check the forecast and the event page together, because rain plans can change a policy.

Questions about umbrellas

It depends on the stadium. Some allow small umbrellas and some ban them. The venue page shows what the official source says.
Not at the venues we checked that address them. Large and golf umbrellas are not permitted.
Policies rarely mention ponchos. A poncho you wear is not usually the target of a ban, but check the event page.
