Short answer

American Airlines Center allows a wristlet, wallet or clutch up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches at all entrances, and purses up to 14 by 6 by 14 inches at the four x-ray entrances. Backpacks and large totes are banned. Outside food and drinks are banned, and there is no re-entry or bag check.

Bag policy in detail

A wristlet, wallet or clutch of 4.5 x 6.5 inches is permitted at all entrances. Large purses up to 14 x 6 x 14 inches are allowed at the four main x-ray entrances, and medical and diaper bags under 14 x 6 x 14 inches are permitted at all entrances. Clear bags are allowed but not required. Backpacks and large totes are prohibited, and the arena has no area to check oversized bags or luggage. Purses up to 14 x 6 x 14 inches are allowed at the North, East, West and South doors, where they are x-rayed. Only a small clutch fits at the Chime Lane entrance.

Food and drink

Guests may not bring any food or beverages in, and bottles, cans, thermos bottles and plastic coolers are not permitted. Baby bottles and formula are permitted. Guests are not permitted to bring any food or beverages into the arena. Baby bags, plastic bottles, formula and baby food are permitted after x-ray and search. Plastic coolers and containers such as bottles, cans and thermos bottles are not permitted.

Cameras and electronics

Non-professional, non-flash still photography is permitted at most events with phones and cameras that have no interchangeable or telephoto lens. Video cameras, selfie sticks, GoPros, monopods, tripods and cameras with telephoto or interchangeable lenses are never permitted. Cameras with telephoto or interchangeable lenses are not permitted at any time. Selfie sticks, monopods and tripods are not permitted at any time. Laptops, personal computers and tablets are permitted for Mavericks and Stars games if they do not disturb others. For concerts they are usually not allowed unless the promoter says so. Tablets are permitted for Mavericks and Stars games, and usually not for concerts. The pages do not mention drones and power banks.

Strollers and family items

Guest Relations on the Plaza Level will check your stroller until the event is over, and strollers are not allowed on escalators. Suite guests can take a stroller to the suite. Medical and diaper bags that accompany a small child, under 14 x 6 x 14 inches, are permitted at all entrances after security inspection.

Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items

Umbrellas are permitted only if they do not exceed 12 inches when collapsed, and umbrellas with pointed tips are prohibited. The pages do not mention blankets and seat cushions.

Signs, flags and fan items

Small signs are welcome with a limit of 11 x 17 inches for Mavericks and Wings games, 22 x 28 inches for Stars games and 8.5 x 11 inches for other events. They cannot be on a stick or pole, commercial, offensive or block others' views. Small flags are welcome unless the teams or event management say otherwise, with the same size limits and no sticks or poles. Guests are welcome to bring personal binoculars for most events.

Medical needs and accessibility

Medical and diaper bags that accompany a small child, under 14 x 6 x 14 inches, are permitted at all entrances after security inspection. Re-entry can be approved by the Guest Services Supervisor at the door for situations such as medical needs.

Security screening and arrival

All permitted purses and bags are subject to security inspection, and the four main entrances have x-ray inspection. Re-entry is not allowed at any event, though the Guest Services Supervisor at the door can approve it for medical needs. Smokers re-screen when they come back from a designated smoking area.

Bag storage and lockers

The arena has no area to check oversized bags or luggage. Guest Relations on the Plaza Level checks strollers until the event ends.

Mavericks and Stars games, concerts and other events
