Short answer
Disneyland Resort allows bags, backpacks and coolers up to 24 by 15 by 18 inches, with or without wheels, and all of them can be screened. You can bring your own food, but Cast Members will not store or heat it. Glass containers, wagons, selfie sticks, flags and banners are not allowed.
Every rule at Disneyland
An item that is not listed is not mentioned in the official pages we checked. Each row links to the page its rule came from.
Bag policy in detail
Suitcases, bags, coolers and backpacks larger than 24 inches long, 15 inches wide and 18 inches high are not allowed in any theme park. That limit applies with or without wheels, and the page gives it as 61 by 38 by 46 centimeters.
There is no clear bag rule. All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items can be screened or checked, and the resort reserves the right not to allow any bag, parcel or other item. Clothing with multiple layers is subject to search.
Bag checks and security checkpoints run at the theme park entrances, the Downtown Disney District and the resort hotels.
- Bags, backpacks, suitcases and coolers up to 24 x 15 x 18 inches
- Wheels are allowed within that size
- Everything can be screened
- Larger bags are not allowed in any theme park
Food and drink
The resort's dietary needs page says guests are allowed to bring food into the theme parks. Cast Members are prohibited from storing, preparing, cooking or reheating any food that guests bring.
Glass containers are not allowed, except small ones such as baby food jars, and in the Disney Resort hotels. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed either, except in the resort hotels, and wine can be brought into Downtown Disney to drink at select table service restaurants, where corkage fees apply.
On water, the bottle-filling page says you can refill your personal water bottles at select stations. It does not state a bottle size limit. Coolers are allowed within the bag size limit, but loose or dry ice is not permitted in them, and reusable ice packs are recommended.
Cameras and electronics
Selfie sticks and hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices are not allowed in any theme park. Tripods and monopods are not allowed if they cannot fit inside a standard backpack or extend over 6 feet. Drones and remote-control toys are prohibited.
The rules page does not set limits on personal cameras, and it does not mention laptops, tablets or power banks. It bans photography, videotaping or recording for unapproved commercial purposes.
Strollers and family items
Strollers that are greater than 31 inches wide and 52 inches long are prohibited. Wagons, including stroller wagons, are not allowed at all, and neither is any trailer-like object pushed, pulled or towed by a stroller, wheelchair or person.
Wheeled mobility devices must have at least three wheels, stay stable when stopped, be single rider, and not exceed 36 inches wide and 52 inches long. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a guest aged 14 or older to enter a theme park.
Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items
The rules page does not mention umbrellas, blankets or seat cushions. Folding chairs are not allowed in any theme park or in Downtown Disney.
The resort says it can prohibit any other item that it decides may be harmful or disruptive, so check before you bring something bulky.
Signs, flags and fan items
Flags and banners are not allowed in any theme park. Guests aged 14 or older cannot wear costumes in the theme parks, and masks are not allowed for guests 14 or older unless required for medical purposes.
Horns, whistles, large megaphones and artificial noise makers are prohibited. So are objects or toys that look like weapons, fireworks and smoke or fog machines.
Medical needs and accessibility
Service animals, meaning dogs and miniature horses trained to help a person with a disability, are allowed. They should stay on a leash or in a harness under the owner's control. Emotional support and comfort animals do not count as service animals, and other pets are prohibited.
Masks are allowed when required for medical purposes. The rules page has no separate medical bag process, so ask a Cast Member at the entrance if you carry medical supplies.
Security screening and arrival
All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be screened. Bag checks and security checkpoints run at the theme park entrances.
A valid ticket and valid identification confirmation are required for entry, re-entry and crossover into any theme park on each day of the ticket. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is allowed only in designated outdoor smoking areas.
Bag storage and lockers
The pages we read do not describe lockers or bag storage. The rules page says the resort reserves the right to prohibit the use or storage of any other item that it finds harmful or disruptive. Ask at the entrance if you need to store a bag.
Special events and changes
The rules page says its rules are subject to change at any time without notice. Special events such as Halloween parties have their own costume guidelines, so read the rules for that event.
These pages apply to the Disneyland Resort theme parks, which means Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Walt Disney World is a different resort with its own rules.
