Six Flags Magic Mountain sets no bag size limit but screens every bag and runs metal detectors. Outside food, drinks and coolers are banned, with exceptions for infant food in non-glass jars and for food allergies. Loose articles are not allowed on rides, and lockers rent behind Guest Relations.

Every rule at Six Flags Magic Mountain

An item that is not listed is not mentioned in the official pages we checked. Each row links to the page its rule came from.

Bag policy in detail

The pages do not set a bag size limit. The FAQ says all guests are required to pass through metal detectors and have their bags inspected, and that inappropriate items should be left at home or in your car.

Loose articles are not allowed on rides. That covers mobile phones, hats, purses, backpacks, beverage containers and anything else you carry. Guests can leave them in a locker or with a non-rider.

  • No bag size limit stated
  • Metal detectors and bag inspection for every guest
  • Loose articles are not allowed on rides
  • Lockers are behind Guest Relations

Food and drink

Food, beverages, coolers and grills may not be brought into the park. The exceptions are food for guests with life-threatening allergies, and infant food in non-glass jars. Grills and open flames are strictly prohibited in and around the property, parking lots included.

A guest with an allergy can bring food limited to two sealable sandwich bags of 7 by 8 inches and one snack, such as a piece of fruit, a fruit bar or something that fits in a sandwich bag. One small soft-sided cooler can carry these items. No outside beverages are permitted, and you collect a medical sticker from Security at screening.

Glass bottles are prohibited, except small containers such as baby food jars. No outside alcohol can be brought into Six Flags parks.

Cameras and electronics

Guests can take photos and video while enjoying the park, for personal use only. Commercial photography needs written consent from Six Flags. Selfie sticks, monopods and similar hand-held extension poles are prohibited.

Rides are stricter. No cameras of any kind are allowed on rides, with no exceptions, and the policy lists cell phones, GoPros and glasses with cameras. Cameras mounted to a vehicle, drone, cart, scooter or other moving object are prohibited anywhere. Drones and all other unmanned aerial vehicles are prohibited.

Strollers and family items

The pages do not say whether you can bring your own stroller. Strollers, wheelchairs and electronic wheelchairs are rented first come, first served in Six Flags Plaza, behind Guest Relations.

Infant food in non-glass jars is the one family exception to the food ban. Guests aged 15 or younger need a chaperone from 4:00 PM daily, as described below.

Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items

The pages do not mention umbrellas, blankets or seat cushions. Lawn chairs and folding chairs are prohibited.

Rides can close during electrical storms, heavy rain or high winds, and refunds and rain checks are not offered for weather.

Signs, flags and fan items

The pages do not mention signs, banners or flags. They do ban clothing and visible tattoos that depict violence, nudity, vulgarity or discriminatory language, and clothing cannot be turned inside out as a fix.

Spiked clothing and jewelry, spray paint and markers, laser pointers, scooters, skateboards and shoes with built-in wheels are prohibited.

Medical needs and accessibility

Service animals are welcome and have to stay under the guest's control by leash, harness, voice, signal or another effective control. Relief areas are at select locations in the park. Other pets are not allowed, and the park offers a kennel outside the gates, which needs proof of rabies vaccination.

The pages describe no separate medical bag process. Guests with life-threatening allergies who bring food get a medical sticker from Security.

Security screening and arrival

All guests pass through metal detectors and have their bags inspected. A guest who leaves and plans to return needs a re-entry stamp before leaving, and re-entry is not permitted within 15 minutes of park closing. On Fright Fest nights it is not permitted after 9 PM.

From 4:00 PM daily, every guest aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21, with a government photo ID. One chaperone can accompany no more than ten guests aged 15 or younger. The park can start the policy earlier on any day.

Bag storage and lockers

Lockers are available for all-day rental in Six Flags Plaza, behind Guest Relations. They cannot be reserved in advance, and there is a nominal daily charge plus a refundable key deposit. Lockers at select attractions allow short storage of loose articles.

Six Flags is not responsible for items lost, damaged or stolen. On the biggest coasters, loose articles of any kind are not permitted past the queue entrance and cannot be left on the platform.

Special events and changes

The pages say park policies can change with or without notice. Special events such as Fright Fest change entry rules, including when re-entry stops.

Other Six Flags parks have their own policy pages. The Six Flags page on this site compares three parks, this one included, and shows where they agree.
