Bag policy in detail

Scotiabank Arena has a restricted bag policy to protect fans, employees and teams, and to line up with league and tour standards. Only small purses, clutches or fanny pack type bags smaller than 16.5 by 11.5 centimeters, which is 6.5 by 4.5 inches, are allowed. They can have a handle or strap.

The arena strongly encourages fans to bring no bag at all. If you need a bag for medical or other reasons that does not fit the policy, entry may be allowed after contacting MLSE, subject to x-ray inspection of the bag and its contents. X-ray is available at gates 1, 3 and 5.

The page notes that the policy can change event by event, and that it was last updated in October 2022.

  • Only small purses, clutches or fanny pack bags under 6.5 x 4.5 inches
  • Bags and luggage are on the prohibited list
  • Medical and other exceptions go through x-ray inspection
  • Bag check costs 25 dollars

Food and drink

Outside food and beverage are not permitted into the building, and bottles and cans are on the prohibited list. Alcohol is prohibited too.

Fans with food allergies or medical conditions who need specific food or drink will be permitted to bring their own. Call Fan Services at 416-815-5982 to ask about the exception first.

Cameras and electronics

Camera rules depend on the league. At Raptors games, flashes are banned and cameras with detachable lenses are strictly prohibited. The Raptors section says video cameras are permitted and also says they are not permitted, so ask the arena before you bring one. At Maple Leafs games, non-flash still photography is allowed with a lens no longer than 75 millimeters. GoPros and selfie sticks are not allowed at either.

Concert camera rules vary by event, so check with the arena. The pages do not mention laptops, tablets or power banks.

Strollers and family items

Strollers can be checked. For family events a designated area is set up on the concourse near Gate 6, and at all other times strollers are checked at Fan Services. Children 24 months and under can enter without a ticket but must sit on an adult's lap.

Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items

Umbrellas larger than 12 inches in length are prohibited. The pages do not mention blankets or seat cushions, and bags are not allowed, so anything you bring has to be carried by hand.

Signs, flags and fan items

At sports events, posters and signs cannot be larger than 22 by 28 inches, the size of a poster board. They cannot block other fans' view or permanent signage, cannot be obscene or in poor taste, and cannot carry commercial, political or negative messages. Signs are not allowed in NBA courtside seats. Concert signage follows the tour's rules.

Banners, signs or other items on a pole or stick of any hard material are not allowed, and sticks and flagpoles are on the prohibited list. Helium balloons, horns and noisemakers are prohibited too.

Medical needs and accessibility

A bag that does not meet the policy can be allowed for medical or other reasons after contacting MLSE, with x-ray inspection at gates 1, 3 and 5. Food and drink for allergies or medical conditions can be brought in after calling Fan Services.

Animals are not permitted except service animals for fans with disabilities, and documentation can be requested.

Security screening and arrival

Designated security staff screen everyone entering with metal detection equipment. Fans are asked to open large jackets, remove non-religious headwear and open any permitted bags. Some events also include pat-down searches.

No re-entry is permitted after you exit the arena gates. The arena is cashless.

Bag storage and lockers

Bag check is available for 25 dollars for items that do not fit the size requirement. It is in the Galleria, across from Gate 1. Space is limited and works first come, first served.

Games, concerts and other events

The bag policy says it can change on an event by event basis, and the prohibited items list can vary by promoter request. Contact Fan Services at 416-815-5982 closer to the event day.

Camera and sign rules differ between Raptors games, Maple Leafs games and concerts. The bag policy page shows a last-updated date of October 2022, so check with the arena for your event.
