An item that is not listed is not mentioned in the official pages we checked. Each row links to the page its rule came from.

Bag policy in detail

MetLife Stadium follows the NFL clear bag policy. Each guest can bring one clear bag that is 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches or smaller.

A small purse or handbag of the clutch type is also allowed, as long as it is 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches or smaller. The page lists one per person for each kind of bag.

Non-clear bags bigger than the clutch size are not allowed. The prohibited list names purses and handbags, camera and binocular cases, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags and briefcases or computer bags.

  • One clear bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches
  • Or one small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches
  • Non-clear backpacks, fanny packs and diaper bags are banned
  • Everything is subject to security screening

Food and drink

Food of any kind is welcome if it is carried in a clear plastic bag. Suites are the exception to this rule.

For drinks, you can bring factory-sealed canned or plastic bottles of water or soft drinks that are 20 oz or less. You can also bring a reusable plastic or aluminum bottle of 20 oz or less, but it has to be empty when you arrive. The stadium lists water fountains where you can fill it.

Glass bottles, coolers, thermoses and ice chests are not allowed, and neither is alcohol of any kind.

Cameras and electronics

Still-photography cameras are allowed when the lens is 6 inches or less and the camera is not in a case. The page says the size and type of camera may vary by event, and points you to the event's Know Before You Go page.

Single-purpose video cameras and still cameras with a lens longer than 6 inches are not allowed, and drones are banned.

Small personal electronic devices such as an iPad, Kindle or laptop are allowed with no bag or case. Small hand-held USB-charged personal fans are allowed too. The page does not mention power banks.

Strollers and family items

Strollers and car seats are on the prohibited list. The page also says policies can change for an individual event, so look at the event's Know Before You Go page if you are bringing a baby.

Diaper bags that are not clear and larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches are banned like other non-clear bags. A clear bag that fits the size limit works for baby supplies.

Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items

Umbrellas are not allowed. Hand-carried jackets and blankets are allowed, and security will pat them down or search them.

Seat cushions of any size are banned unless you need one for medical reasons. Battery-operated clothing is allowed if the battery is no bigger than a regular cell phone (3 x 6 x 1 inches), and the battery comes off the clothing at the security table.

Signs, flags and fan items

Banners and signs of any size are not allowed unless the page for your event says otherwise. Flags are not allowed at any stadium event except international soccer, where official national flags up to 3 by 5 feet without poles are permitted.

Balls of any kind are banned, including full-sized footballs, and so are adult-sized football helmets with face masks.

Medical needs and accessibility

Service animals are allowed. Any other animal is not.

Seat cushions are allowed for medical needs. The page does not describe a separate process for medical bags, so if you carry medical supplies that do not fit the clear bag rule, contact the stadium before game day.

Security screening and arrival

All guests go through a screening by Safety Services team members before they enter. You take metal objects out of your pockets and bags, including your phone, and put them on the security table. You carry your bag and other items through the metal detector and pick your metal items up afterward.

All bags are inspected before entry, and vehicles can be inspected before they enter the sports complex. Anyone who refuses a screening or a bag inspection is denied entry.

Bag storage and lockers

The guest policies page does not describe bag storage or lockers. Check your event's Know Before You Go page, and plan to leave oversized bags at home.

Football, concerts and other events

The page states that all of its policies are subject to change for an individual event. That includes camera rules, banners and signs, and flags.

Before you go, open the Know Before You Go page for your event or check your ticket confirmation.
