Short answer

Comerica Park has a near no-bag policy: only bags, wallets and clutches smaller than 4 by 6 by 1.5 inches, plus diaper, parenting and medical bags under 16 by 16 by 8 inches. One sealed or empty water bottle up to 20 ounces, blankets, binoculars, tablets and soft seat cushions are allowed. Umbrellas stay closed.

Every rule at Comerica Park

An item that is not listed is not mentioned in the official pages we checked. Each row links to the page its rule came from.

Bag policy in detail

Bags larger than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches are prohibited, bags for laptops, tablets, cameras and binoculars included. Single-compartment bags, wallets, clutches, fanny packs and clear bags smaller than that are permitted. Diaper, parenting and medical bags under 16 x 16 x 8 inches are also permitted. Any bag larger than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches is prohibited, so backpacks are out. Hard-sided bags are not listed as permitted either. Wallets, clutches and clear bags smaller than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches are permitted, with or without a handle or strap.

Food and drink

A single clear, factory-sealed plastic bottle of water of 20 ounces or less is allowed, and so is a single crushable empty plastic water bottle of 20 ounces or less. Bottles, glass, aluminum and metal containers are not. Outside food and beverage of any kind are prohibited, except single-serving food for religious, dietary or medical necessity. Hard and soft coolers are prohibited, except for religious, dietary or medical necessity.

Cameras and electronics

Cameras without detachable lenses larger than 8 inches are permitted. Professional or commercial cameras with interchangeable lenses larger than 8 inches, and audio or visual recording devices such as GoPros, are prohibited. Interchangeable or detachable lenses larger than eight inches are prohibited. Tripods, monopods and selfie sticks are prohibited. Drones and unmanned aircraft are prohibited inside or outside the venue, parking areas included. Laptops, tablets and iPads are on the permitted list, but bags for them larger than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches are prohibited. Tablets and iPads are on the permitted list, but bags for them larger than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches are prohibited. The pages do not mention power banks. Battery-operated and rechargeable handheld fans, coats, gloves and vests are permitted.

Strollers and family items

Strollers are allowed in the venue but not in the seating area. Medical bags required for dietary or medical necessity, and diaper and parenting bags, are permitted if they are smaller than 16 x 16 x 8 inches. Those bags are searched.

Umbrellas, blankets and comfort items

Umbrellas are permitted but cannot be opened during events unless a rain delay is in progress. Ones that block anyone's view can be confiscated. Blankets are on the permitted list. Seat cushions are allowed if they have a soft surface and no metal.

Signs, flags and fan items

Signs and banners smaller than 11 x 17 inches are allowed if they are not on a pole or stick of hard material, are not paraded around, and do not block views or signage. Flags follow the sign rule: nothing larger than 11 x 17 inches, and nothing on a pole or stick. Binoculars are on the permitted list. A binocular case counts as a bag and has to fit the bag limit.

Medical needs and accessibility

Diaper bags, breast pumps, oxygen, insulin, epi-pens and other medical devices count as medical necessity. Authorized diaper and medical bags have to be smaller than 16 x 16 x 8 inches, and they are searched.

Security screening and arrival

Fans pass through a walk-through metal detector after emptying their pockets, and permitted bags are searched. Guests can opt out of the walk-through detector and take a handheld or alternative screening. Do not exit expecting to re-enter after your ticket is scanned. The venue is non-smoking, vaping included.

Bag storage and lockers

The page describes no bag storage. It encourages guests to take non-permitted items back to their car, and the Tigers are not responsible for items left at the gate.

Tigers games and other events

The prohibited and permitted items lists are shared with other venues run by the same operator and name baseballs at Comerica Park. The page says nothing separate for concerts, so check your event page.
