Alcatraz Island Entry Rules: Bags, Water, Food and Cameras

Large bags, suitcases, luggage, coolers and oversized backpacks are not allowed on the ferries or the island. Items that cannot be easily carried by one person are not allowed either. Small backpacks up to 16 x 20 inches are welcome, and oversized backpacks are not. The pages do not mention purses.

Bottled water in non-glass containers is allowed and is the only drink allowed beyond the dock. Eating, drinking and smoking are permitted only at the dock area on the island.
