Only personal clutches, clear bags included, no larger than 10 x 6 x 2 inches are permitted. Medical and childcare bags up to 14 x 14 x 6 inches are exceptions, and every bag within the limits is x-rayed. A purse has to be a personal clutch of no more than 10 x 6 x 2 inches, and it is x-rayed. The guide does not name backpacks. The bag limit of 10 x 6 x 2 inches for clutches, with 14 x 14 x 6 for medical and childcare needs, would rule most out.
