Indianapolis and downtown. A verified page shows its bag rule here, and the others say they are still being checked.

Bag rules side by side

These rows come from each Indianapolis venue's own policy page.

Bag policy

  • Backpacks, hard-sided bags and any bag larger than 6 x 10 x 2 inches are not allowed. Bags for necessary medical devices should be no larger than needed to hold the item, and baby bags are permitted. All bags are screened and x-rayed.

Gainbridge Fieldhouse prohibited items page, checked

  • Butler says a clear bag policy has been in effect for all games at Hinkle Fieldhouse since fall 2020. No bag size is given on the pages that load, because the linked bag policy page returns an error.

    Butler safety initiatives announcement, checked

  • Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear freezer bag. For Colts games a small clutch, no larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches, can come in as well. Diaper bags follow the same rule, and each family member can carry an approved clear bag.

Lucas Oil Stadium clear bag policy page, checked

  • Clear plastic or vinyl totes no bigger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches and small clutch bags of 6 x 9 inches are allowed, and the clutch does not need to be clear. Medical bags are permitted but searched. No other bag is allowed.

Ruoff Music Center FAQ page, checked

Bag storage at the verified venues

Lucas Oil Stadium: The pages do not describe bag storage. Items that are not permitted cannot be stored by stadium personnel.

Gainbridge Fieldhouse: Oversized bags may be stored for a fee, subject to availability, at the Hyatt Place Indianapolis Downtown Valet Bell Services Desk across the street. Guests with a prohibited item found in a search can dispose of it or return it to a safe place away from the Fieldhouse.

Hinkle Fieldhouse: The guide describes no bag storage.

Ruoff Music Center: The page describes no bag storage.

Questions about Indianapolis venues

  2. No. These are the pilot venues. We add more in waves, starting with the places people search for most.
