MLS Bag Policies: What Each Stadium Allows Through the Gate

We have not verified one league-wide MLS bag rule, so each stadium page shows only what that venue says. The stadiums we have verified set different limits, from clear bags only to any bag within a size, so read each page. We have verified 21 of the 21 MLS stadiums we cover.

Every stadium sets its own rules

We have not verified a league-wide MLS bag rule, so this page does not claim one. Places that host MLS games also host concerts and other events, and each publishes its own limits.

Among the 21 stadiums we have verified, the limits run from a small clutch of about 4 by 6 inches to bags 14 inches or more on a side, and the table below lists each one with its source.

  • Allianz FieldConditional

    Minnesota United encourages fans not to bring bags. One clear bag no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches or a one-gallon clear freezer bag is permitted, plus a clutch or purse no larger than 5 x 9 inches. There is no bag check, and bags are checked and tagged at entry.

  • Audi FieldConditional

    No bags larger than 14 x 14 x 6 inches are allowed, and no backpacks or luggage. Cinch bags that fit the size limit are allowed. Fans are strongly encouraged to bring no bag, and there are separate lanes for fans with and without bags.

  • BMO FieldConditional

    Allowed are all-clear bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches with no buckles or hardware, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, and a small clutch smaller than 6.5 x 4.5 inches. Fans with other bags are not permitted entry unless they contact MLSE for a security inspection. Bag check at Gate 3 costs $10.

  • BMO StadiumConditional

    Guests may bring one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches or a one-gallon clear storage bag. Non-clear bags, including small clutches, are not allowed. Some events use a modified policy.

  • DICK'S Sporting Goods ParkConditional

    Bags cannot be larger than 14 x 14 x 6 inches. MLS encourages fans not to bring bags, and every bag is searched on entry and inside the stadium.

  • Dignity Health Sports ParkConditional

    Bags that are clear plastic or vinyl up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches are permitted, and so are one-gallon clear freezer bags. A small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches can go in with one of them. The guide advises fans not to bring bags at all.

  • GEODIS ParkConditional

    Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and no larger than 12 x 12 x 6 inches, including clear cinch sacks, clear diaper bags and gallon bags. Non-clear bags, wallets and cases must not exceed 4.5 x 6.5 inches, even inside a larger clear bag. The policy applies to all events.

  • Inter&Co StadiumConditional

    The stadium recommends not bringing a bag. Small bags no larger than 4.5 inches high and 6.5 inches wide are acceptable, and a larger bag must be a clear tote no larger than 14 x 14 x 6 inches.

    Each guest may bring one bag that is clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear freezer bag. A small clutch, with or without a strap, may go in along with one of them. The guide strongly encourages fans not to bring bags.

    All bags and backpacks are prohibited except approved clear bags no larger than 12 x 12 x 6 inches, including clear backpacks, fanny packs and purses and one-gallon zip bags. A small clutch or non-clear fanny pack up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches is also allowed.

    A clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 14 x 14 x 6 inches or a one-gallon clear freezer bag is allowed, and fans are encouraged to bring no bag.

    All bags, backpacks and other carriers are prohibited. Exemptions are considered after screening for a clutch the size of your hand, about 8 x 5 x 1 inches, plus medical bags, childcare bags with a child and cultural bags.

  • ScottsMiracle-Gro FieldConditional

    Non-clear bags smaller than 5 x 8 x 1 inches, diaper bags and medical bags are permitted after inspection by security and a bag tag. All bags can be refused, and guests with prohibited bags take them back to a vehicle or use the bag check booth.

    Only clear bags of 12 x 12 x 6 inches or smaller and small clutch purses of 4.5 x 6.5 inches or smaller may be permitted after a thorough inspection. Medical and diaper bags for a baby or small child get the same inspection and are tagged.

    Bags larger than 12 x 12 x 6 inches are prohibited, and all bags must be clear.

    Fans may bring any bag up to 14 x 14 x 6 inches. Backpacks of any kind and bags larger than that are not permitted, and medical and baby bags are an exception that gets an x-ray search at Gate B1.

    Bags smaller than 14 x 14 x 6 inches of a permitted type are subject to a more thorough inspection and must be opened. Any bag larger than that is prohibited.

    All bags entering Subaru Park must be clear, and bags larger than 14 x 14 x 6 inches or that are not clear are prohibited. Every bag is searched on entry.

    Each guest may bring one large clear bag, 14 x 14 x 6 inches or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag, or one small 5.5 x 8.5 inch clutch. Guests with a prohibited bag must return it to their vehicle, and each family member may carry one approved bag.

    Each fan may bring one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch or pack up to 6 x 9 inches. Medically necessary bags are exceptions after inspection and management approval.

    One soft-sided bag up to 16 x 16 x 8 inches is allowed, plus one smaller soft-sided personal item. Hard-sided bags of any size are not.

  1. We have not verified one. Each stadium page shows what that venue's own policy says, with the source and the date we read it.

  2. We read each venue's own policy before showing a rule. The ones still marked have not been read yet, and we do not guess while they wait.

  3. Not always. The venues we have verified say their rules can change by event, so check the event page for your date.
