What flags rules look like

  • Of the venues we have checked, 119 allow flags with conditions and 48 do not allow them. The other 133 do not mention flags on the pages we read.
  • The most common condition is no pole or stick. Allegiant Stadium allows flags up to 3 x 5 feet without poles, Barclays Center up to 11 x 17 inches, and Bank of America Stadium, Busch Stadium and Bryant-Denny Stadium ban poles.
  • Some venues limit flags to a team or a nation. Ball Arena allows team flags only, and Camden Yards allows team and nation flags without hard poles.
  • BC Place allows a flag on a PVC pole up to 3.5 feet. Bridgestone Arena and Camp Randall Stadium say flags or banners are not allowed.

Before you go

  1. 1Leave the pole at home. Where a flag is allowed it is nearly always without a stick.
  2. 2Keep it small enough to hold in one hand and keep it out of other fans' view.
  3. 3Check the rule for signs and banners too, because many venues write them as one entry.

Questions about flags

  1. Often yes, if it is handheld and has no pole. Size limits and team-only rules apply at some venues, so check the venue page.

  2. At most of the venues we checked, no. Poles and sticks are among the items banned most often.

  3. It depends on the venue and the show. Some arenas and amphitheaters ban flags and banners, and others allow small ones, so read the venue page.
