3 more venues are queued for review and will join this table once their rules have a source and a date.

What tripods rules look like

  • Of the venues we have checked, 179 ban tripods and 11 allow them with conditions. The other 109 do not mention them.
  • The venues that allow them are theme parks and similar. Disney World allows a tripod that fits in a backpack, up to 6 feet, and Universal Orlando requires selfie sticks to be secured on rides.
  • PNC Park asks guests to refrain, and Six Flags bans monopods while treating tripods case by case.
  • At stadiums and arenas the tripod rule usually sits in the camera entry, next to limits on lens length and a ban on video cameras.

Before you go

  1. 1Leave the tripod, monopod and selfie stick at home for any stadium or arena.
  2. 2At a theme park, read the park page before you pack one.
  3. 3Phones are fine at most venues, so a handheld phone is the easy way to take photos.

Questions about tripods

  1. Almost never. Most of the stadiums and arenas we checked ban tripods, usually together with monopods and selfie sticks.

  2. At most venues that mention them, no. A few parks allow them with conditions, such as securing them on rides.

  3. Sometimes. Disney World allows one that fits in a backpack, and other parks differ, so read the park page.
